Stephanie Thorson, Registered Psychotherapist
I have always had enormous compassion for others, and deep connections with people. In my private practice, I work with individuals with a wide range of challenges, backgrounds, and personal styles. I am fascinated by people, and my curiosity, understanding and calm demeanor help me provide you with a supportive environment to help you on your journey.
My training and experiences have helped me understand how to help others develop skills and insights to cope and thrive. In my earlier careers, I was first a journalist, curious and communicating about many things. I then became an environmental entrepreneur and activist concerned about all living things. I am a spouse and mother of two daughters.
Following a painful and debilitating injury, I needed to change careers and was drawn to the fields of psychotherapy and art creation, both of which helped me heal. My daughter's mental health journey and the effects we saw from early intervention mental health support factored into my decisions related to my life path.
My father was an eminent jurist and advocate for social justice, as was his father. I proudly carry this social justice tradition in my practice and have an anti-racism, anti-oppression approach. I provide a safe and welcoming environment to people of all sex or gender identities, races, abilities, and religions. My pronouns are she/her.
I am a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and trained in psychotherapy and art therapy at the following institutions:
I look forward to working with you!
